Whisper Valley Ranch is located in the coastal mountains of San Luis Obispo in a secluded valley near Santa Margarita Lake. The ranch house and guest quarters are located along the seasonal Las Pilitas creek on a 160 acre ranch parcel next to Federal BLM land. Numerous roads, including two bridges across the seasonal creek, allow hiking throughout the ranch. Whisper Valley Ranch is secluded and very private, yet is only 30 minutes away from historic San Luis Obispo, the cultural heart of California’s Central Coast and the Paso Robles wine region.
The approximately 2,000 square foot main house uses classic ‘post & beam’ construction with extensive hand-carved doors, beams, and windows throughout. Vaulted ceilings with open beams and large windows provide views of the Coastal Live Oak trees and the stream, literally making the inside and outside part of the same environment. There is a large living room with a stone fireplace, master bedroom with master bath, guest bedroom suite and loft, Alabaster light fixtures, wine storage, central heating and air-conditioning, skylights, and every other modern comfort needed. Artistic touches are found throughout the house by renowned San Jose artist, Barbara Koberlein and Sausalito’s celebrated artist, Diane Calmes.
The 160 acre property consists of a self-contained valley, bisected by the seasonal creek. The house is located creek-side at 1400′ elevation, surrounded by Coastal Live Oaks, White Oaks, Digger Pines, and many native bushes and plants. The valley ridges soar to 1800′ elevation with spectacular views of the surrounding hills, valleys, and the Santa Margarita Lake.
The property is located 2.5 hours south of Santa Cruz and San Jose and is 4 hours north of Los Angeles.
